The year we left Rhode Island, I took the girls for one last beautiful September beach day. We met our friends @lisredd at our favorite spot. It was such a special day. We had the beach nearly to ourselves. I called it my goodbye present from my beloved Rhode Island.  The most beautiful thing happened that day. A huge migration of butterflies flew (fluttered) through. Hundreds of them dancing over sand...landing on the dune grass, in our hair. It didn't last very long, maybe a half hour, but it was beautiful and spectacular.  I stood at the water that day and wept silent tears of goodbye and also of gratitude as I watched the waves and the butterflies. It was beautiful.  It was heartbreaking.  A memory that still moves me to tears when I think about it. I think of that day and those butterflies every time I am back there again with old treasured friends making new memories. I thought it was the end that day. But it was in fact, a beautiful new beginning. So many beau...

Had the best birthday!  Met up at Krispy Kreme for breakfast with dear friends. Where it was in fact, NOT, dress like a pirate day this year.  ????? Then met up at a dear friends' to carpool 40 minutes to the party.  Our sweet friend had thoughtfully prepared a drinks to go station for us to fuel up before hitting the road. Maverick and Goose are always the best part of this particular drive.  These two are hilarious at the wheel and in the co-pilot seat. Arrived to the most beautiful table set and a Bollywood/Indian spread.   Heidi always does the most amazing parties.  And always dresses in the theme. I am forever thankful for these beautiful ladies. They are lovely inside and out, and have carried me through a difficult year.  They are the light in my life, and I am forever changed because of them.  What a beautiful day spent with them to celebrate another year of life.  Then headed out with the family for dinner at our favorite Boulder ha...

Homecoming parade

I love tradition.  And there's not much I love more than a home town parade tradition.  My growing up home town 4th of July parade, our beloved Gaspee Days Warwick parade.  There's something about your community coming together for a united celebration that just tickles me.  I still miss the marching mariners band every June.  One of my first moments of true joy and belonging came our first year here when we set up on the street in Old Town with our friends and neighbors to cheer on the local High School the night of the homecoming football game.  That it has become a beloved tradition is one of my favorite things about Colorado.
