Christmas morning

Christmas morning the girls woke up with excitement.  I'm holding on to these days as hard and fast as I can.  Because they are turning into grown up young ladies, and their excitement for the magic of Christmas gives me LYFE! My favorite part of Christmas is always watching the girls give their gifts to each other.  And watching the giving sister's face as the other one opens her gift. Joy rising! Cousins arrive.   Brunch Gifts Mass chaos This is the reason I come! Grandad made marshmallow guns for every single one of us.   Grandma was less than thrilled. Family really is everything.

Christmas Eve with Family

One of, if not the only reason we drive all of Christmas 16-20 hours across Wyoming, is to be with our families.   Christmas Eve, after all the bustle of the day and our individual family traditions, we gather around my parents tree to read the Christmas story. Grandma June's German luminaries nativity makes it feel like Christmas to me. We always take a late night drive to the cemetery to leave candles for our sister and our grandparents.   It's special to me to remember those who we love who are not with us. We finally get everyone to sleep, and Santa arrives. Boo's stash Bug's stash He even left a little something for us.

It is what feels most like Christmas to me! We've seen the Nutcracker from Boston, to New York, to Utah, and Colorado.   So fun to be back with the new sets and choreography at Ballet West this year.  Mr. C.'s Nutcracker will forever be the ONLY Nutcracker for me. We try to get there early to be able to walk around and take it all in. I still get butterflies in my tummy when I hear the orchestra warming up. When the curtain goes up and the opening notes of the orchestra begin to play, it feels like Christmas to me at last.  I sit through the entire show on the edge of my seat in pure joy.  Watching my girls enjoy something I love so much is one of my favorite things on earth!
